Cold weather shelters will open in some Central Florida counties on Thursday as temperatures dip below 40 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s Thursday night into Friday morning in parts of the Channel 9 viewing area.

A cold weather shelter in Flagler County will open after a strong cold front sweeps through the area, dropping temperatures across Central Florida.

As temperatures drop below freezing, residents are advised to follow the "Three P’s" of cold weather safety — protecting people, pipes, and plants.

Showers and storms cleared up in Central Florida on Wednesday afternoon as a cold front moved across the state. Storms will started around 3 p.m., and moved across the area throughout the evening.
