Denali National Park has confirmed that 29 year old Nicholas Vizzini of Washington state passed away in a soft slab avalanche incident on Mt. McKinley (formerly known as Denali) on June 10, 2025.

Tim Rains National Park Service A 29-year-old skier from Washington died in an avalanche in Alaska’s Denali National Park and Preserve, making it the second death this season, officials said.

Nicholas Vizzini, 29, and his climbing partner, a snowboarder, triggered the avalanche while descending the West Buttress of Denali around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Park Service news release.
