The Malheur River has surged to a major flood stage, putting parts of Malheur County at risk as roads become submerged and farmland is inundated.

U.S. Highway 20 is closed between Juntura (milepost 190) and Harper (milepost 223) due to flooding from the Malheur River. A nearby resident reports that the flooding extends to her property.

Since then, Malheur River levels have receded to moderate levels. The river is considered at a moderate flood stage at 21 feet at Vale, the press release noted. Officials continue monitoring conditions on the ground in Vale, including floodwater inundating farmland and closing and damaging roads, the press release said.
