No. 5 North Carolina started off the Chapel Hill Super Regional with a bang as the Tar Heels beat Arizona 18-2. Three more supers will start Friday: Miami at Louisville, No. 9 Florida State at No. 8 Oregon State and No. 13 Coastal Carolina at No. 4 Auburn.

Eddie King Jr.'s 2-out double scored Jake Munroe in the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top. Jake Schweitzer, Justin West and Brennyn Cutts combined for a scoreless final two innings to put Louisville (40-22) among the eight teams going to Omaha.

It was 29 years ago Monday that Chip Hale won a College World Series title with Arizona as a player. June 9 also happens to be the birthday of his wife, Judi, but she wasn’t able to take the trip to Omaha to support her school and her future husband back in 1986.
