TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Frontman for the Norwegian synth-pop band A-ha, Morten Harket, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is a result of the loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain, affecting areas in control of movement and communication. At least 10 million people are affected worldwide.

The singer said, while he had “no problem accepting the diagnosis,” he's uncertain about whether he'll be able to perform live in the future.

Morten Harket has revealed he has Parkinson’s disease. The singer of a-ha, the band behind the 1985 hit and innovatively animated music video “Take On Me, ” shared the news during an interview with the group’s biographer.
