The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy, who was killed in a crash Monday in Victorville, was identified as Hector Cuevas, Jr.

A funeral was held Thursday in Ontario to mourn the loss and honor the life of San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr., who was killed in a crash while pursuing a suspect through Victorville last month.

“Dear Lord, we came here today sorrowing over the loss of our fellow officer, our mentor, our friend, Hector Cuevas,” Chaplain Rick Stonestreet said as the service began. “Thank you for an example of a life well-lived. Also for a family that has lost a son, a brother, a father, a husband, and most of all, a Christian.”
