A fierce and long-lasting line of severe thunderstorms called a derecho is likely to tear across the Northern Plains on Monday, causing damage to trees, structures and knocking out power.

From the evening of July 28 to the morning of July 29, a severe storm threat will barrel from the Upper Plains to the Upper Midwest, bringing the risk of flooding, high winds and isolated tornadoes.
