Former UConn star Liam McNeeley put on a show with a 22-point double-double in his NBA Summer League debut for the Charlotte Hornets Friday night.

University of Connecticut's men's basketball player Liam McNeeley has declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. McNeeley is a freshman forward with the Huskies, and he just finished his first season.

UConn went 5-3 without McNeeley and this week dropped out of the AP Top 25 for the first time since the start of the 2022-23 season. “He’s going to be a top-10 (NBA draft) pick,” Hurley said.

McNeeley drew laughs, especially from Lee, when he noted how playing for UConn coach Dan Hurley opened him up to a “real intense coach” and will serve him well throughout his NBA career.

For example, he was a streaky and inconsistent shooter at UConn, shooting just 31.7 percent from behind the arc. Lee might be the perfect head coach for McNeeley to grow into a quality NBA player.
