As much as President Donald Trump wants Greenland to become part of the United States, Greenlanders do not want to join the U.S. So says a poll conducted for Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsiaq and Denmark’s Berlingske,

President Trump is doubling down on his efforts to acquire Greenland from Denmark, and now the Danish government is pushing back.

President Trump isn’t the first U.S. politician to be interested in Greenland — not by a long shot.

It was a contentious, aggressive telephone call, five days before the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Jan. 20.
