Officials in southern Italy say that a cable car carrying tourists south of Naples has crashed after the cable snapped, killing at least four people and critically injuring one.

Three tourists were among four people who died when a mountain cable car plunged into a ravine south of Naples.

Another cable car, containing 16 people, was trapped in the air as a result of the incident and had to be rescued, with footage in Italian media showing them transferring cars in harnesses
