The Euroleague is ready to enter talks with the National Basketball Association after the NBA announced it was exploring the possibility of launching a new league on the continent, Euroleague supremo Paulius Motiejunas said on Friday.

The NBA, in partnership with FIBA, is considering launching a league with as many as 16 teams, some new and some existing.

A new team could emerge in the Paris market, owned by Qatar Sports Investments, which owns soccer giant Paris Saint-Germain. The 2024 Olympic host city already counts as its own Paris Basketball, which plays in the French national league and the EuroLeague, and has home games at both of the city’s large basketball arenas.
