New Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus is excited about his first season with new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

The Bears never finished higher than third in the NFC North during Eberflus’s tenure. He was fired after 12 games in 2024 having won just four games and Bears management had finally seen enough.

Eberflus spent four seasons as the Colts’ defensive coordinator before the Bears hired him in 2022. He went 14-32, the third-worst record in franchise history, before the team fired him in November.

The calling card of Eberflus' defense, in his words, will be generating turnovers. During his Chicago tenure, the Bears' 75 takeaways were tied for the sixth most in the NFL from 2022-2024.
