​​On Sunday, Gov. Greg Abbott, speaking to a throng of more than 800 attendees at his State of the State address, unveiled school choice, property tax relief, and teacher pay raises among his seven emergency items for legislators to address immediately during the ongoing legislation session.

The governor touted Texas’ strong economy in his State of the State address Sunday, where he also laid out priorities he wants lawmakers to focus on in the months ahead. These include creating a school voucher-like program and lowering property taxes.

The governor’s speech sets a broad agenda for the Legislature, including a nuclear renaissance and a Texas Cyber Command.
