Rescuers in Gaza raced to dig victims from the rubble on Sunday after Israeli airstrikes on two school buildings left at least 30 people dead, according to the Palestinian Civil Defense.

The attacks targeted the Hassan Salama and Al-Nasr schools west of Gaza City, Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal said. “Around 80 per cent of the victims are children,” he added in a statement.
