Expect smoke over Oregon City as fire at former paper mill smolders
A fire early Thursday at the site of the former Blue Heron paper mill is expected to smolder for the next 24 to 48 hours, possibly sending smoke and ash over Oregon City, officials said. Regulators with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality said the fire did not pose a risk to river and air quality.
Crews battle massive fire at old paper mill in Oregon City
At about 3:46 a.m., Clackamas Fire crews were called out to a fire at 419 Main Street. The fire is on the Blue Heron property, which is an abandoned paper mill now owned by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde as part of their reclaiming of ancestral homelands. A second alarm has been called to bring in more resources.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (KATU) — A 3-alarm fire broke out at the former Blue Heron paper mill located in Oregon City early Thursday morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene just after 3:45 a.m. Several streets including 99E are closed in the area around the old mill.
