The PGA Tour is in Houston this week for the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Several top-ranked players are in the field, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Following Thursday’s opening round, Scheffler found himself in the middle of the pack after carding a 3-under 67.

Rainy, windy conditions were the story of the day in the opening round of the 2025 Houston Open as players struggled to score around Memorial Park Golf Course. Handling the on-and-off rain clouds and an annoying breeze most effectively were a group of four players including Taylor Pendrith and Keith Mitchell who rose to the top of the leaderboard thanks to first-round 65s.

Scottie Scheffler is less than two weeks away from defending his Masters title. While his game has not quite been up to his lofty standards set in 2024, he reminded the golf world what he is capable of when everything is clicking.
