NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Pelicans Governor Gayle Benson announced today that Joe Dumars has been named the team’s Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. Dumars will begin with the organization on April 21.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced Hall of Famer Joe Dumars as their executive vice president of basketball operations Wednesday. Dumars, 61, has been the NBA's executive vice president and head of basketball operations since 2022.

The Pelicans appear set to hire former Detroit Pistons executive Joe Dumars to run basketball operations, according to ESPN, with a deal expected to be finalized by the end of the week. The Louisiana native and NBA Hall of Famer ran the Pistons from 2000-14, winning an NBA championship in 2004.
