Movie musical 'Golden' has been scrapped by Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry following the completion of principal photography.

The coming-of-age musical formerly known as "Atlantis" had been slated for release in May from Universal Pictures.

Kelvin Harrison Jr., Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Janelle Monáe were part of the star-studded cast of the musical inspired by Williams' childhood.

This is per Variety, which revealed that the already-shot film has now been scrapped, after “unanimous agreement from producers and Gondry that the film did not live up to its developed conceit.” Universal will reportedly eat $20 million in losses on money already spent on the movie,
