Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt left Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Watt said after the team’s loss to the Eagles that he rolled his ankle and X-rays were negative.

PHILADELPHIA -- Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt went down with an injury against the Philadelphia Eagles. Watt was being blocked and was trying to bend around the edge but came up lame halfway through the rep. He went down in pain, but limped off the field with help. Watt went into the medical tent with the injury.

Watt, while trying to get to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in the fourth quarter at Lincoln Financial Field, suddenly started hopping while favoring his left foot. Watt didn't seem to do anything specifically, but he fell to the ground clearly in a lot of pain.

The Steelers will have to do without star receiver George Pickens (hamstring), quarterback Justin Fields (abdominal) and safety DeShon Elliott (hamstring) on Saturday. Both cornerback Donte Jackson (back) and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (groin) are questionable.

While Watt and the Steelers are accustomed to be being at the mercy of the NFL schedule makers — Pittsburgh is playing on five days’ rest instead of the normal six because it is also hosting Kansas City on Christmas Day — he demurred when asked if he was frustrated that he’s being forced to deal with an injury during a truncated portion of season.

Along with dealing with an ankle injury, Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro outside linebacker T.J. Watt is also battling a lingering right thumb injury.
