The Texas Rangers have a series lead and send possibly the best pitcher in baseball to the mound to close it out. He doesn’t allow a run and turns it over to a bullpen that bends but doesn’t break. The offense pieces together timely hits to take a late-game lead.

One of the pitchers they have talked to is two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion Nathan Eovaldi, according to WEEI’s Rob Bradford. Eovaldi had six teams he was talking to, but the Red Sox were among the final teams he was potentially looking to join.

The Red Sox entered Sunday’s finale in Texas in the same position as last year’s opening series in Seattle: looking to salvage a series split after winning Opening Day followed by back-to-back losses.
