The Pacific Division champion Golden Knights downed the wild-card Minnesota Wild 3-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the teams’ best-of-seven first-round series.

Hertl gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 15:22 of the first period. He roofed a shot over Gustavsson’s right shoulder from the bottom of the left circle after lifting the stick and stealing the puck from Wild defenseman Brock Faber.

Brett Howden scored two goals, and the Vegas Golden Knights opened their first-round Western Conference playoffs series with a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
