Super Bowl champion Joe Theismann expressed optimism the Washington Commanders will, in some way, honor the franchise's legacy as the Redskins and the old logo.

According to SportsLogos.net, the Commanders will be the first of six NFL teams announcing alternate helmets this offseason.

The Redskins were founded in Boston and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937, but the logo of a chief was adopted in 1971 in consultation with Native American organizations.
