The Humane Society for Hamilton County is seeking some relief after a heating system failure in part of the facility, and the community is stepping up to help by fostering dogs and spreading the word.

The Dubois County Humane Society is reaching out for support after a furnace that heats the dog runs stopped working and a waterline burst flooding their back yard. According to a post on Facebook, donations will go towards fixing the furnace and excavating the waterlines.

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Two kennel areas no longer have heat at the Humane Society for Hamilton County, and they need the public’s help to protect the dogs from the intense cold. HSHC made the announcement to ask for the community’s help to foster the dogs as central Indiana is seeing single-digit temperatures, even dipping into the negatives.

The Humane Society for Hamilton County is making an urgent request for people to temporarily house some of its dogs after the heating system broke down.

The shelter currently houses over 130 dogs, and with limited heated kennels available, it needs people who can foster a dog, even for just a few nights.
