Russell Wilson is the starter, but Brian Daboll had this to say about his goal for Jaxson Dart in training camp.

While reaffirming for the umpteenth time that Russell Wilson is the starter, the Giants head coach did no such thing when asked if the No. 2 quarterback is set in stone.

On the first day of training camp, Dart wouldn't put a ceiling on his ambitions — not even for two Super Bowl rings. Hope springs eternal.

New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart will wear No. 6 for Big Blue this season. The issue was seemingly settled this week when the player currently donning the number, punter Jamie Gillan, switched to No. 12. Gillan now shares the jersey number with wide receiver Jordan Bly, who is unlikely to make the team.

If Dart turns out to be a good player, Schoen and Daboll both will take and receive credit for the evaluation and the pick. But if Dart doesn’t pan out, it seems set up to lay the blame on Daboll and the coaching staff with Schoen surviving the mistake.

It's fair to wonder if the Giants should have waited until next year to go all in at QB and instead invested more in the offensive line.
