Detroit Red Wings legend Alex Delvecchio died on Tuesday, July 1, at 93 years old. The Hall-of-Famer played all 24 of his NHL seasons (1950-74) with the Red Wings, playing in 1,550 games, winning three Stanley Cups and three Lady Byng Memorial Trophies during his career.

Alex Delvecchio, longtime Red Wings captain and one of hockey’s most quietly brilliant stars, passed away on July 1, in Rochester, Michigan.

So far, in free agency, two former Spartans have inked new contracts, with Jeff Petry signing with the Florida Panthers and Mackenzie MacEachern signing with the Vancouver Canucks. Now, there is one other former Spartan, Mason Appleton, that is still searching for his next deal.
