For the first time since February 2019, water gushed into Lake Berryessa’s “Glory Hole” spillway late Tuesday after the area received about 2 inches of rain, said Chris Lee, general manager of Solano County Water Agency, which manages the lake.

The Glory Hole acts as flood mitigation for the the manmade lake, serving as a massive funnel once water levels reach about 440 feet. Last year, water levels at the spillway edged on the brink of activation for weeks, but never managed to spill over.
