Thailand shortened operating hours at 10 border crossings with Cambodia, citing security concerns, as tensions between the two countries simmered after a deadly clash last month.

Thailand’s armed forces are ready to defend the border in the face of a deadly clash with Cambodia that erupted last week, a top official said, adding that the country wants to maintain peace with its neighbor.

Thailand is decreasing the amount of time that checkpoints on the Cambodia border are open, as well as banning the crossing of some people and trucks.
