Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics, was banned from the World Boxing Organization (WBO) because she isn't a woman.

Khelif was found to have XY chromosomes, according to leaked findings from a 2023 examination conducted by a certified Indian doctor.

Khelif, a biological female who faced transphobic attacks regarding her physical appearance and gender during last summer's Paris Olympics, was singled out in the organization's announcement.
