Here is the thing there simply is not enough people playing survivor. Majority play soloq and it's miserable. 2V8 was fun because you couldn't have dead weight teammates, it was easier t handle the killer, and it was pretty even in winning vs losing. Survivors can't be camped or tunneled (mostly) in 2v8 and even if the killers didn't they still ...

Except the devs have said during the 2v8 livestream that the answer on if it will be permanent or not does not have a definitive answer yet, as this is just the first iteration of 2v8, from which they'll continue working on the mode based on the feedback …

Jul 25, 2024 · It is not just you. A lot of people are excited to play Killer with a friend for the first time so there is a disproportionately high number of Killers are not enough Survivors to fill each of their lobbies.

Sep 30, 2024 · This will be the first Haunted by Daylight event I'll actually be around to play, the other two happened while I was taking breaks from DBD, hopefully it will be fun, and I'm confident this second iteration of 2v8 will have Freddy available. My favorite killer can't be excluded from a modifier for the third time… right?

The escape rate for survivors overall is like 38%. They doubled survivors and killers in this game mode, removed massive killer downtown activities (the need to hook), survivor counters (flashlight saves, bodyblocking, sabotaging hooks), but stopped short of doubling gens.

2v8 allows 2 killers to gang up on a single survivor and put them in no-win situations, then immediately cage them with no chance of a flashlight or stun save from teammates.
