The Dell Rapids Carnegie Library was originally built in 1910 and marked the first of the style differences from years prior. Rather than extravagant designs, Dell Rapids was the first to build smaller entrances, a plainer exterior, and a square building design.

The Dell Rapids City Council meets the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. The City Council consists of the Mayor elected at large, who shall hold office for four years, and eight aldermen, two elected from each ward, who shall hold office for three years.

From the historic main street dating back to 1888, to the beautiful, rustic campground, to the naturally chiseled corridor of the dells along the Big Sioux River, the City of Dell Rapids has something to offer everyone.

The Sioux River Red Rock Trail in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, is a cooperative effort between a committee of local residents and the City of Dell Rapids. A section of trail along the highway from Centennial Place to the scenic overlook in the Dells of the Sioux Recreation Area was completed in the fall of 2018.

One block south of the historic business district and on the banks of the Big Sioux River lies Dell Rapids City Park. From the shady picnic area to the City Poll, to the historic structures, the City Park has something to offer everyone.
