I have been to famous spots like Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto station, Nishiki market, horseracing etc. So I’m looking for hidden gems in Kyoto. Preferably related to Japanese culture (I mean not like shopping centres). Events will also be good, but I searched in calendars and there’s no event in Kyoto. Thank you so much!

The buses to and from the further flung temples can all be gotten at Kyoto station. Many travelers arrive in Kyoto by train and depart by train and use Kyoto as a base for day trips to Nara and Osaka. Staying near Kyoto Station does seem to make the most sense to me.

Mar 25, 2023 · Take a nice stroll around Takaragaike Park — nice hidden gem in northern Kyoto-shi. Very peaceful and virtually no foreigners. Bar Alchemist - One of the best speak-easys in Kyoto.
